Though he has already recorded one win in the books since dealing with a suspension for using a banned diuretic prior to his May fight against Gabriel Rosado, super middleweight J’Leon Love looks at 2014 as an opportunity to start fresh.

Love (16-0, 1 NC, 9 knockouts) meets lightly regarded Vladine Biosse (15-2, 7 KOs) in tonight’s 10-round main event at Turning Stone Resort & Casino in Verona, N.Y. The bout tops a Mayweather Promotions tripleheader edition of Showtime's ShoBox: The New Generation and Love sees the fight as a step towards securing a world title later in the year.

“I’m looking to graduate from a prospect to a contender in the super middleweight division,” Love told RingTV.com in a phone interview on Thursday.

INDIO, Calif. – 2008 Olympic bronze medalist Deontay Wilder had never gone more than four rounds in his professional career. Veteran Sergei Liakhovich, who previously had never been stopped before the ninth round, seemed the guy to extend the undefeated KO artist.

However, the former WBO titleholder didn't make it a full minute. The bout headlined a three fight ShoBox card at the Fantasy Springs Resort & Casino.

That Liakhovich was stopped wasn't the surprise, the way in which Wilder sent him spiraling to the canvas 43 seconds in was.

“Sometimes it scares me when I can tap a guy and hit him and they just fall,” said Wilder after the knockout. “Did you see the reaction when I hit him? It was like he was falling from a roof or something.”

LAS VEGAS – For nine plus rounds, Mickey Bey was putting together a signature performance in his ShoBox: The New Generation main event against John Molina at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.

Bey constantly beat Molina to the punch, utilizing his superior hand speed and footwork to build a wide lead on all three judges' scorecards. What makes boxing beautiful in comparison to other sports is that the scoreboard doesn't matter until it reads zero.

Molina was the latest example of this, as he stopped Bey on his feet at the 2:01 mark of the 10th and final round after being outclassed for most of the contest.

Despite Bey being superior for much of the fight, Molina never stopped coming forward. With his left eye badly swollen in the early rounds after eating numerous jabs from Bey, he began to have a hard time seeing the check hooks coming.

Friday night, John Molina's career is more or less on the line as he meets unbeaten Mickey Bey in their ShoBox-televised ten-round main event in Las Vegas.

Coming off a close decision loss to Andrey Klimov just north of a month ago, Molina has switched trainers, from Oxnard, Calif.'s Robert Garcia to 45-minutes east in Van Nuys with Joe Goossen.

This will mark the third time Molina and Goossen have linked up. The two have been more on-again, off-again than Ross and Rachel of '90s sitcom Friends fame.

"I didn't watch Friends, so I'm not familiar with that reference, but how about more than Liz [Taylor] and Dick [Burton]?" asked Goossen on Wednesday, when asked about the renewed vows.

"I've got an eight-month old at home and the back-and-forth to Oxnard was tough on me," shared Molina on why he switched from Robert Garcia back to Goossen.

In his last appearance on ShoBox: The New Generation, Angelo Santana looked impressive as he disassembled Juan Garcia in five rounds last November. It was so exciting that Showtime producer Gordon Hall, who is at the helm of the prospect-based series, sought out Santana for a return bout on the program.

Though Santana was in another exciting bout on Friday, it wasn't the kind the Cuban standout and his promoter Don King were hoping for when they went in against Uzbeki spoiler Bahodir Mamadjonov, who scored an upset ninth-round stoppage.

Though the main event kind of went against the spirit of the ShoBox: The New Generation series, an entertaining battle unfolded between two 30-somethings looking to figure their place in the lightweight division.

Friday night at the Chumash Casino and Resort, Art Hovhannisyan (15-0-2, 8 KOs) had to work harder than he would have liked to eek out a 10 round split-decision win over former lightweight titlist Miguel Acosta (29-6-2, 23 KOs) after dropping him hard in the opening round.

On July 20, Gary Shaw Promotions will bring a doubleheader to the esteemed prospect series ShoBox: The New Generation from the Chumash Casino Resort in Santa Ynez, Calif. as confirmed by matchmaker John Beninati. The card was initially going to air three bouts but one bout fell out, as detailed below.

As has been previously reported, the card will be headlined by a 10-round lightweight bout between unbeaten Artyom Hovhannisyan of Glendale, Calif. by way of Armenia against former titleholder Miguel Acosta of Venezuela. The two televised undercard bouts have not been previously reported anywhere.

Middleweight prospect Brandon Gonzales' year is not going to begin the way he would have liked it to.

Gonzales (15-0, 10 KOs), of Sacramento, Calif., was set to appear on Jan. 20th's edition of ShoBox: The New Generation against fellow unbeaten Caleb Truax (18-0-1, 10 KOs) of Osseo, Minn. at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.

According to Gonzales trainer Virgil Hunter, that fight is now off as the Northern California based middleweight suffered a torn hamstring a few days ago, causing the fight to be called off.

"The fight is off, he tore his hamstring a few days ago," Hunter said in a phone conversation earlier Monday.

Friday night from the Chumash Resort & Casino, WBC #1 super middleweight Anthony Dirrell took one step closer to his aspirations of winning a world title, scoring a fourth round stoppage of #2 rated Renan St Juste of Canada in the twelve-round main event of a ShoBox: The New Generation televised card promoted by Gary Shaw Promotions.

Dirrell [24-0, 21 KOs] more or less controlled the action throughout despite a hesitancy to engage early on. Dirrell worked well in the opening round, landing a few nice combinations behind his jab.

It wasn't long ago that Santa Barbara, California's Francisco Santana was entering fights as the touted prospect with high expectations. Friday night, he'll step into the ring as the projected stepping stone for undefeated Jermell Charlo of Austin, Texas in the televised opener of ShoBox: The New Generation, a position Santana has found himself in a few times as of late.

After turning pro under the Goossen-Tutor Promotions banner in November of 2005, Santana was being groomed for big things.

“I was supposed to make my pro debut near my home at Chumash with Gary Shaw but the fight fell through,” Santana told Leave It In The Ring in a phone interview on Wednesday.

I don't usually like to inject myself into a story of mine, but rules are meant to be broken.

I've seen fifteen of his nineteen professional fights, nine of them in a ringside capacity. That has been no coincidence.

When I first saw unbeaten super bantamweight Rico Ramos turn pro just more than three years ago, I knew I was watching something that had the potential to be very special.

Even at twenty years old and against a non descript opponent, I felt that Ramos had the tools necessary to not only be a world champion, but a future pound-for-pound entrant.

Now set to contend for his first world title as he meets WBA 122-pound champion Akifumi Shimoda this Saturday in the opening televised bout of HBO Boxing After, my predictions are at a point where they have a chance of coming true.

SANTA YNEZ, Calif. - Reading native and Exeter grad Travis Kauffman suffered the first loss of his professional career via fourth-round knockout at the hands of Tony Grano in an exciting heavyweight contest that featured lots of back and forth action Friday night at the Chumash Hotel and Casino.

Kauffman (18-1, 15 KOs) was controlling the fight up until there was about a minute left in the fourth when Grano (16-1-1, 13 KOs) was able to land a few serious overhand rights that stunned the previously undefeated fighter.

Once Kauffman was badly hurt, he elected to try and duck punches instead of holding on. Kauffman moved straight back while he was against the ropes and hit his head on the front of a camera that was being held on the apron.

On top of that, there were a few other controversial moments that may have helped Grano recover when he was badly hurt earlier in the round.
