Swedish singer-songwriter Alice Boman made a stop at the Bootleg on Wednesday night, and boy, was it magical.
Standing in front of her piano, Boman played through several heartbreaking ballads, taking the crowd on an emotional roller coaster. A respectful crowd stood in stunned silence as Boman’s powerful vocals overwhelmed the majority of the audience.

One minute. That’s how long it took tickets to sell out to west coast favorite Best Coast‘s show that took place Thursday night at The Echo. Tickets went on sale just 48 hours before Bethany Cosentino and her cohorts would take the stage, and they didn’t last long.
By 7:30 p.m., the line was around the block of The Echo, full of people waiting to get in. By the time Best Coast hit the stage around 10:15, the anticipation was almost too much for many people in the crowd.

Los Angeles-based indie rocker Meg Myers, ALT98.7 and Carl’s Jr. got things going — on a Tuesday.
Kicking off the “Carl’s Jr. All-Natural Concert Series” in an intimate Burbank performance space, Meg Myers played three acoustic songs before doing a short interview that also featured a bit of Q&A. Fans were also provided with free Carl’s Jr. — the new All-Natural burger that was recently launched, along with some french fries.

About a month or so ago, I saw news begin to appear that a “Netflix for concerts” was about to kick off in Los Angeles. As someone who went to 100 concerts last year, my interest was obviously piqued immediately.
Enter Jukely Unlimited. After trying the idea out in New York City, it officially launched in Los Angeles in mid-January. Since, the service has launched in San Francisco and next on deck is Austin. For $25 a month, you can get a ticket to a show every night of the week. For $45 a month, you can get a +1 to all the shows you decide to attend.

If I was to guess what music would sound like in the year 2200, it would resemble something like Hundred Waters.
Combining electronic and folk music seamlessly, the Florida four-piece delivered a hypnotic set at the El Rey Theatre on Friday night. Playing material from their 2014 release The Moon Rang Like a Bell, Hundred Waters showed their music translates quite effortlessly from the studio to the stage.

If you’ve ever had the pleasure of seeing hometown favorites Warpaint in Los Angeles (or anywhere for that matter), at some point in the evening, things turn into a ritual, almost tribal-like feel. Things were no different Sunday night at The Roxy Theatre, and this was surprisingly the first time these four had graced the stage of the infamous West Hollywood venue.
“So excited to be here at The Roxy!” shouted Wayman midway through the set. “Fucking amazing, never played here before. I don’t know why we haven’t played here before — it’s much better than anything we have over in Silverlake, right?”

Within the first few second of the track “White Noise” by Los Angeles duo Howls, a number of different thoughts immediately jumped into my head. The electronically-fused track sounds as though it could serve as an updated score for the chase through the corn maze in “The Shining” — or even the soundtrack in a futuristic side-scrolling fighting video game.
