Philadelphia lightweight Karl Dargan turned pro in 2007. It's safe to say after talking with him that he wished he had more than 13 professional fights over the last seven years, but the inactivity is just about the only thing that's held him back from breaking through.

East Coast based promotional company Main Events saw that Dargan was being undervalued and under appreciated and snagged him earlier this year. Dargan will fight Nov. 16 against unheralded but unbeaten Michael Brooks in a fight that will air on NBC Sports.

I saw Dargan early in his pro career as he fought in San Jose, Calif., in his third bout. Trainer Nazim Richardson was with him and spoke to me about Dargan, promising that he had the potential to be a future champ. Richardson did disclose that he is in fact related to Dargan, being his cousin.

Dargan made it clear their relationship is a close one, calling Nazim more of an uncle than a cousin when talking to Behind The Gloves on the phone while getting ready for his fight

News broke early Monday courtesy of Yahoo Sports' Kevin Iole that HBO will no longer be working with top promoter Golden Boy Promotions for the immediate future. While that spells bad news for boxing fans around the world, it opens up opportunities for other people to come in and get those HBO dollars that previously were spent on Golden Boy fights. There are a number of different people or entities that could greatly benefit from this move, and below is a list of five that might see the biggest return.

Saturday night, an NBC Sports televised intriguing heavyweight crossroads bout between New Jersey based Pole Tomasz Adamek and Philadelphia's Eddie Chambers went head-to-head against the big league broadcast by HBO, with Adamek getting the unanimous decision.

 Those that stuck with the network in their third hour saw a spirited scrap, as well as an interesting decision; though it wasn't an action-packed affair, it was as competitive as advertised, despite judges seeing it one way. Scores of 116-112 twice and 119-109 in favor of Adamek was the verdict reached.

 Chambers showed impressive movement and precise punching in the opening round as Adamek allowed his opponent landed the only meaningful punches of the round.

Friday night on NBC Sports, Gabriel Rosado (20-5, 12 KOs) kept career momentum moving in the right direction as he notched an impressive 9th round stoppage over former title challenger Sechew Powell (26-5, 15 KOs) in their headlining 12 round junior middleweight bout from the Sands Casino Resort in Bethlehem, Penn.

The action started out slowly as both fighters felt each other out for the first few rounds. Things heated up around the midway point as they traded power shots at a higher clip. Powell's southpaw stance bothered Rosado early on.

“I fought kind of technical in the beginning because his southpaw style gave me some issues, but once I warmed up I was able to get inside,” confirmed Rosado to Chris Mannix in the postfight interview.

Immediately following this Saturday’s telecast of the NCAA men’s basketball regional finals will be the second round of Main Events' NBC Sports “Fight Night” aired simultaneously with a solid HBO doubleheader.

Despite this, both NBC and Main Events nurse high hopes as their card, featuring former two-division champion Zab Judah against the unbeaten Vernon Paris in an intriguing junior welterweight scrap, capitalizes on both the former’s star power and the sports fanaticism of a captive audience.

“What we are trying to take advantage of is two things -- Zab's name recognition and being right after the quarter-finals of the NCAA Tournament,” explained Main Events CEO Kathy Duva, who spoke with TQBR earlier this month.

Saturday night from the Citizens Bank Arena in Ontario, California, Tomasz Adamek [41-1, 27 KOs] won an impressive twelve-round majority decision over local hero Chris Arreola [28-2, 25 KOs] in front of a large crowd in the televised headliner of HBO's Boxing After Dark. Arreola started off quickly and for the first four or five rounds it was a firefight that favored the more than thirty pounds heavier fighter. Somewhere in the fifth round, Arreola hurt his left hand and the fight changed as Adamek began to outbox Arreola and move around the ring extremely well. Arreola would land a few big shots in nearly every round but Adamek was landing much more accurately. Adamek's body work in the middle rounds helped slow Arreola down and he enjoyed a surge in the eighth and ninth round. Arreola seized momentum in the tenth and eleventh but Adamek took the twelfth to earn the tight majority decision. One judge had it 114-114 even but was overruled by the 115-113 and a much too wide 117-111 in favor of Adamek.
