An enticing tripleheader has been announced by Goldenvoice for Thursday, March 3 at the Fonda Theatre.

After a string of successful shows on their own in 2015, SoCal indie rock favorites Best Coast and Wavves will co-headline the Fonda Theatre in 2016. LA darlings Cherry Glazerr will be featured in an opening capacity.

House of Guvera had their LA launch this past Thursday night in the Arts District of downtown LA, providing a free In N Out Burger truck out front, along with an open bar and intimate performances from LA favorites Best Coast, as well as Froth.

Guvera is a music streaming service that based itself in Australia but has extended itself after having reached 11 million subscribers. House of Guvera plays host to original content, which included interviews with the likes of Talib Kweli and Wolfmother among others.

The final day of Shaky Knees Music Festival in Atlanta was a departure from the punk and angst of the previous two days. The music seemed to fit the mood of people winding down their weekend, mellowing out in the shade of the many trees that occupied the park.

Most of the angst of the day came in the form of SoCal band The Mowgli’s in the Buford Highway tent. They’re a bit GROUPLOVE meets Dashboard Confessional — and they knew how to get the crowd into their show. Singer Colin Dieden found himself in the crowd for the set-closing “San Francisco,” and though the sound was rough at times (as it was all weekend in the tent), they overcame it with unbridled charisma.

After seeing the level of success festivals like Coachella and Bonnaroo have obtained, festivals have sprouted up all over the States, attempting to position themselves as one of the top-tier music festivals in the country. Monday night, a bevy of talented musicians joined together to honor Brian Wilson at the Fonda Theatre in an effort to raise money for the charity Sweet Relief Musicians Fund. This has become a yearly tradition sponsored by Jameson Irish whiskey, having previously honored the likes of The Rolling Stones, Tom Petty, and George Harrison.

Brian Fest showcased talent both on their way up to the top as well as long-established acts. As the show grew longer, the names got bigger. Some of the early performers were handed a more difficult task of covering some of the more obscure covers from Wilson’s illustrious career.

After taking a bus from Los Angeles to Las Vegas and flying into Austin from there (cheaper flight, y’all), I hit the ground running for South by Southwest (SXSW) on Wednesday.

After waiting in line at the House of Vans at Mohawk for about an hour, I finally got in and was able to see Denver-based Son Lux. Lead man Ryan Lott utilizes a lot of interesting sounds — both on his vocals and on his keyboards — bringing together a sound that can best be described as a more electronic-heavy version of The Killers. The set-closing song “Lost it to Trying (Mouths Only Lying)” was the strongest track of the set and had the small bar-filled crowd really feeling it.

One minute. That’s how long it took tickets to sell out to west coast favorite Best Coast‘s show that took place Thursday night at The Echo. Tickets went on sale just 48 hours before Bethany Cosentino and her cohorts would take the stage, and they didn’t last long.

By 7:30 p.m., the line was around the block of The Echo, full of people waiting to get in. By the time Best Coast hit the stage around 10:15, the anticipation was almost too much for many people in the crowd.
