For the first time in history, live televised boxing will take place in Woodland, California as Telefutura’s SoloBoxeo comes to town. The card is topped by local attraction Alan Sanchez, who meets Alberto Herrera in an eight-round welterweight bout.
Sanchez [8-2-1, 3 KOs], of nearby Fairfield, California, is riding a three-bout winning streak. All three of those wins took place in Fairfield and were televised on SoloBoxeo. Herrera [8-3-1, 5 KOs], whose brother Mauricio will fight Pier Cote on Showtime in February, is coming off a dominant decision victory over unbeaten Marcus Robinson in October. Prior to that, Herrera lost three fights in a row to fighters with a combined ledger of 31-2-1.
Earning his first co-feature slot is Sacramento, California featherweight prospect Guy Robb, who looks to earn his sixth victory of 2011 when he meets Hugo Ramos of Palm Springs, California in a six-round bout. Robb [6-0, 2 KOs] is completing his first full year as a pro, and his exciting March 25th bout with Emanuel Morales is up for Northern California Fight of the Year honors courtesy of CSNBayArea.com. Ramos [3-10-2, KO] has lost five straight.
In perhaps the night’s best matchup, unbeaten Jonathan Chicas of San Francisco, California meets Paul Cano of Clovis, California in a four-round welterweight bout. Cano, a top amateur in his weight the past few years, will be making his pro debut. Chicas [3-0, 2 KOs] is looking for his fourth win this year.
In another intriguing matchup, Dmitry Chudinov of Los Angeles, California by way of Russia will meet tough gatekeeper Tony Hirsch of Oakland, California in a four-round super middleweight bout. Chudinov [5-0, 3 KOs] will see the ring for the first time in 2011 and was once a prospect with TKO Promotions before they folded. Hirsch [12-4-2, 6 KOs] is a guy known for giving young prospects difficult fights, but will be stepping on on short notice at a weight two divisions above where he is best suited.
Watsonville, California junior middleweight Oscar Godoy [3-1, KO] will meet journeyman Juan Carlos Diaz [7-15, 6 KOs] of Lakeside, California by way of Mexico in a four-round bout. Diaz has dropped ten in a row.
Welterweights Nicolas Balestra [1-1] and Will Walters [0-2] will meet in a four-round an all-Sacramento affair.
