LOS ANGELES – Both Sergio Martinez and Miguel Cotto seemed ready to the press tour behind them and begin training at Wednesday’s final press conference to promote their June 7 middleweight championship.

The theme of the bout, which takes place at Madison Square Garden and will be televised by HBO pay-per-view, appears to be about respect.

Martinez feels disrespected that he’s being billed second and had to make a number of concessions at the negotiation table when he’s the middleweight champion (the lineal champ recognized by THE RING magazine, not just a beltholder). Cotto feels as though he earned that position at the table having taken his lumps as the B-side to both Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.

The Mar. 8 WBC lightweight title bout pitting champion Omar Figueroa against Ricardo Alvarez has been scrapped, according to Golden Boy Promotions matchmaker Eric Gomez.

Gomez told RingTV.com on Saturday afternoon via email that Figueroa suffered a injury that will take him off the Showtime PPV card.

Figueroa's trainer Joel Diaz informed RingTV.com that the injury was to the fighter's left wrist, which occured during sparring Friday. Alvarez will stay on the card, and Golden Boy currently is looking for a new opponent, per Gomez, but there is "no replacement yet."

There's a reason Ana Julaton's name is at the center of rumors about the appearance of women's boxing on one of boxing's premium networks.

A few reasons, actually.

Julaton, a former junior featherweight titleholder, has never ducked a fight. On many occasions, the Filipino-American boxer has traveled to her opponent's territory. She fought Kelsey Jeffries in San Jose, Calif. Lisa Brown in Canada. Jessica Villafranca in Mexico. Yesica Marcos in Argentina.

Julaton also draws. In San Jose, she outsold Jeffries, who was from Gilroy, Calif., about a 10-minute drive from where the fight took place. Julaton, from the nearby Bay Area, brought Filipino fans in droves. Her follow-up fight against Donna Biggers in San Jose also drew well. Those two cards each drew nearly 4,000 fans, which outdid shows that major promoter Goossen-Tutor put on at the HP Pavilion the year before.

With September 15's highly-anticipated mega fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Saul Alvarez just a tad more than two months away, you would think by now we would have some clue how the undercard is shaping up.

There have been rumors of a fight between Lucas Matthysse and Danny Garcia appearing as the co-feature. That fight is one of the top four or five fights that can be made in all of boxing and would perhaps be the best pay-per-view co-feature to ever have been put together.

With that in mind, what about the rest of the undercard? Or what if Matthysse-Garcia doesn't get made? There are many logical bouts that can be put together that would all but guarantee fans get their money's worth out of the bouts leading into the main event.

Here is a list of fights I've come up with that seem plausible for the September 15th undercard. Note that none of these fights should break the bank and could come at a decent price.
