Undefeated Canadian junior middleweight
prospect Mikael Zewski [8-0, 5 KOs] has found an opponent for his
spot on the undercard of this Saturday's Erik Morales-Marcos Maidana
HBO pay-per-view as he will fight Robert Guerrero sparring partner
Clint Coronel [4-1-2, KO] of San Jose, California in a six-round
bout.
Coronel is coming off of a
controversial split decision victory over journeyman Carlos Musquez,
which was the televised co-feature March 25th on
Telefutura's Solo Boxeo. Coronel is a tough fighter that originally
came from MMA and Frank Shamrock's stable of fighters, but has found
a niche as a durable opponent. He gave amateur standout Richard
Hargraves trouble in his other bout of 2011 back in February in San
Francisco, earning a draw.
Golden Boy signed Zewski back in August
of last year and hope to develop him into a draw in his hometown of
Quebec much the way Lucian Bute has become a draw over there.
This will mark Zewski's third bout of
the year and the second this month, having scored a third round
technical knockout of Gerardo Prieto on March 4th.
Coronel has made strides as a
professional boxer since becoming a chief sparring partner for
Guerrero, who also fights on the card in the televised co-feature
against Michael Katsidis. He should provide rounds for the young
prospect despite losing by first round stoppage in his only defeat, a
loss on cuts to Roberto Reyes in June of last year.
